Driving the transition to affordable, zero-carbon energy
For more than 40 years, we have helped shape the renewable energy industry through the development, construction, operation and optimisation of renewable energy projects around the world.
Today, we are the world’s largest independent renewable energy company, supporting 45GW of operational assets across 24 countries and having developed or constructed more than 29GW of renewable energy projects.
Renewable energy remains central to achieving global net-zero ambitions.
Our 29GW project portfolio avoids annually over 25 million tonnes of CO2. This is equivalent to the amount absorbed by 1 billion trees. In a single line, these trees would circle the equator 57 times.
We know that real impact is measured by what we do – not just what we say
Our report sets out how we approach sustainability – in our environmental impact, in how we care for people and communities, and in how we govern and grow responsibly. The achievements within reflect not only our capabilities, but the commitment and spirit of the people who make RES what it is.
Protecting and enhancing nature
We believe renewable energy and nature must thrive together.
Across our projects, we undertake environmental assessments, biodiversity enhancement programmes and habitat management initiatives designed to protect and improve local ecosystems.
Examples from FY25 include:
- Protection measures for endangered monarch butterflies during construction activities in Canada.
- Integrating solar energy with agriculture and ecology in the UK – Dual land use in action
- Biodiversity enhancements at solar farms through land management, tree planting and habitat creation.
Supporting sustainable material management
We continue to explore innovative construction and maintenance processes to optimise material use, recyclability and waste management.
This year we:
- Increased renewable energy component repairs by nearly 30% through our specialist workshop in Spain.
- Recycled more than 21,000 solar modules during a major repowering project.
- Repurposed wind turbine components into practical products including furniture and public amenities.
Innovation for greater renewable energy performance
Our digital solutions help customers generate more renewable energy from existing assets.

- In 2025, our award-winning TuneUp technology increased annual energy production at a 20-year-old wind farm by 2%, demonstrating how innovation can improve performance outcomes without the need for major new infrastructure.
Supporting communities through energy discounts
Our Local Electricity Discount Scheme (LEDS) continues to provide direct financial benefits to households located near renewable energy projects.
To date:
- More than 46,500 payments have been made.
- Over £9.3 million has been distributed.
- More than 7,000 properties benefited during FY25 alone.
This year also saw the successful introduction of LEDS in Australia.
Investing in local opportunities
Across the world, we support initiatives that strengthen education, wellbeing, environmental stewardship and community resilience.
Highlights from FY25 included:
- Supporting university students through the Scottish Student Development Fund.
- Funding community projects through our Powerbank programme in Sweden.
- Supporting food relief programmes in Australia.
Indigenous partnerships and reconciliation
Building respectful relationships with Indigenous communities remains a key priority.
In FY25 we:
- Launched our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan in Australia.
- Introduced our first Reconciliation Action Plan in Canada.
- Continued to develop renewable energy projects through meaningful collaboration with Indigenous partners and communities.
Lighting up La Blanca
One of the most inspiring examples of our Power for Good commitment came through a global volunteering initiative in Mexico.
Fifteen volunteers from across RES worked alongside local partners to install 60 solar-powered streetlights in the rural community of La Blanca, improving safety, accessibility and quality of life while demonstrating the positive social impact renewable energy can deliver.

Our people bring our vision to life every day. We are committed to creating an environment for our people to do their best work, grow with confidence and feel proud of the contribution they make.
Health and safety first
Nothing is more important than ensuring everyone returns home safely.
Our "Don't Risk It" culture remains at the centre of how we operate, supported by leadership accountability, proactive reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
Throughout FY25, our safety programme delivered real progress across the business.
- Delivered our annual global safety focus event involving our teams worldwide.
- Strengthened safety governance across our newly integrated areas of the business.
- Became one of the first in the world to have our training centre to be certified to deliver GWO’s new solar safety training programme.
- Continued active participation in industry safety organisations and standards development.
RESpect everyone
Our RESpect strategy supports the creation of a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected and able to be themselves.
Our seven employee-led Affinity Networks continued to help shape our culture, covering topics including gender, disability, LGBTQ+, ethnicity, veterans and early careers.
Growing sustainably
As our business continues to evolve, sustainability remains embedded within our governance, decision-making and long-term strategy. Our leadership teams oversee the implementation of environmental, social and governance priorities, ensuring sustainability is integrated into how we operate and grow.

We are committed to maintaining and promoting the highest ethical conduct in our business through our:
- Global Code of Conduct
- Anti-bribery and corruption training.
- Whistleblowing and reporting mechanisms.
Managing climate-related risks and opportunities
Climate-related risks and opportunities are embedded within our strategic planning and risk management processes. As demand for renewable energy continues to grow, we remain focused on:
- Building operational resilience.
- Supporting the energy transition.
- Strengthening supply chain sustainability.
- Identifying opportunities for innovation and long-term value creation.
