RES has announced today a financing deal for its Hill of Towie Wind Farm, in Moray in Scotland. The arrangement with Lloyds Banking Group and BNP Paribas for construction of the wind farm is the first large scale project to benefit from the European Investment Bank Intermediated UK Onshore Wind Scheme.

EOLE-RES has announced today the start of construction of the "Langres Sud" wind farm. Once completed, this wind farm will take EOLE-RES past its first terawatt hour of clean, green energy. Located in the south of the Haute Marne Department, on the Langres plateau, this wind farm will be one of the largest in France with an installed capacity of 52 MW. It will be made up of 26 x 2 MW turbines, capable of generating nearly 120 million kWh annually - enough to cover the electricity needs of approximately 50,000 people

More new wind power capacity was installed in the EU in 2009 than any other electricity-generating technology, new statistics published today by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) reveal. 39% of all new capacity installed in 2009 was wind power, followed by gas (26%) and solar photovoltaics (16%). Europe decommissioned more coal and nuclear capacity than it installed in 2009. Taken together, renewable energy technologies account for 61% of new power generating capacity in 2009.
