RES opens Houston warehouse to bolster supply-chain resilience as U.S. solar and storage demand hits record highs

by RES | May 26, 2026 | Reading time: 3 min

Houston, Texas – 26 May 2026 – RES, the world’s largest independent renewable energy company, has opened its flagship warehouse facility in Houston, Texas, providing the operational infrastructure to support its growing U.S. solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) operations and maintenance (O&M) business.

With 27 years of U.S. experience and 1,300 experts across the country, RES manages a growing portfolio of solar, BESS and wind assets across North America – including a 1.5 GWp O&M contract with Repsol signed in September 2025, covering major projects in Texas and New Mexico. The Houston facility will play a direct role in supporting those assets.

The investment comes as the U.S. renewables market enters a period of unprecedented growth. The EIA projects 43.4 GW of new utility-scale solar and 24 GW of new BESS capacity will come online in 2026 alone, with Texas accounting for around 40% of planned solar construction nationally. At the same time, evolving trade policy and rising import duties on solar modules and battery components have added significant lead-time and cost pressure across the supply chain, making local parts availability a critical operational priority.

As RES’ primary U.S. inventory management hub, the facility will consolidate stock to support O&M projects across solar and BESS, centralise tools, PPE, parts and consumables to deliver cost efficiencies, and provide the scale to leverage supply chain relationships across the portfolio. The facility also expands RES’ spare parts commercial offering – including vendor managed inventory – in a location customers can visit directly.

Juan Gutiérrez, CEO of RES Services, said:

“Supply-chain resilience is now a critical part of asset performance. By investing in local infrastructure, we are ensuring our customers have faster, more reliable access to the parts and expertise they need – whatever the external environment brings.”

The Houston opening reflects RES’ broader U.S. growth trajectory. The company has constructed 19.5 GW of renewable energy projects in the U.S. to date, including the 505 MW High Lonesome Wind Project in Texas and the 690 MWdc Faraday Solar Project in Utah. RES has also commissioned the largest BESS project in its global portfolio in New Mexico at 1,200 MWh, with a further 4,000 MWh of storage under construction across the country.

The initial phase focuses on materials stocking and supply chain operations. Future phases of the facility will introduce technical training capabilities and, in time, equipment repair and refurbishment services – supporting customers across the full asset lifecycle.
