Beacon Prize Winners Announced
In 2023, over 275 individuals from across our business were recognised by colleagues and peers for their personal achievement and outstanding efforts by receiving a PACE award. PACE Awards celebrate individual’s success, recognising and rewarding our people for exemplifying our values: Passion, Accountability, Collaboration and Excellence.
At the end of the year, all the PACE Award winner’s stories were put forward to the Group Executive for consideration for the highest accolade – RES’ Beacon Prize.
Here we celebrate our winners’ stories.
Uğur Işık, General Manager, Türkiye
Uğur demonstrated passion when he travelled to the disaster area immediately after the earthquakes hit Türkiye in February 2023, supporting the relief efforts by distributing food, water and hygiene products. In the months that followed the focus shifted to providing essential support for survivors who lost their homes, belongings, livelihoods and loved ones, Uğur passionately championed a global RES fundraising effort.
“I’m truly honoured and delighted to have been awarded the Beacon Prize for Passion. It was my privilege to help and touch the lives of a small number of people. I am proud of the culture at RES, we care about each other and put the safety of our people above everything else.”
Tracy Scott, Development Director – Green Hydrogen, UK&I
Tracy also demonstrated our core value of passion. Tracy led the UK&I charity committee for 20 years from 2003 to 2023, diligently organising many fundraising events. She managed match funding and donations and has worked to bring a new team on board so that the charity committee will continue to play a big part in RES life.
“Peer recognition is so incredibly important. You become so immersed working on something for so long that you don’t always take the time to stop and look back at all you have achieved. It has been an incredible privilege to be the Chair of the committee.”
D’Ann Morrill, Civil Designer, Americas
D’Ann’s ownership of and accountability for completing construction plans for the Forty Mile Wind Project allowed the rest of the civil team, engineers and designers, to focus on other high priority task to support construction. She is constantly assisting and mentoring other designers and is a go to individual on the civil team for the engineers and designers.
“Accountability for me means meeting the project goals, producing a quality product on schedule, delegating as required, setting check-in points and defining my ownership in the process. Being a team player and accountable for my conduct and work ethic helps build team confidence and growth.”
Andrew Fairlie, Senior Legal Counsel, Group
On the recent negotiation and signing of the offshore O&M services contract on the St Breiuc project in France, Andrew demonstrated fantastic collaboration and accountability in supporting the French support services team secure their first offshore project. Andrew has worked on a wide range of projects together with RES colleagues in UK & Ireland, Sweden, Norway, France, Germany, Spain, and Türkiye across RES’ key business areas of development, construction, support services, and digital solutions – bringing a depth of knowledge, commercial acumen, and genuine enthusiasm for all things “renewables”.
“Learning from others in other disciplines is so incredibly valuable. Every day I learn something new from someone in RES. Collaborating with such gifted colleagues makes this the most enjoyable job.”
John O’Dell, Senior Manager, Office and Facility Operations, Americas
John has received the award for Excellence for his work to successfully complete the buildout of the McGregor Square office in Denver. John worked tirelessly to ensure the project remained on-track to achieve our vision for an open and collaborative workspace and meet our grand opening date.
“I always look to see what I can do better every day with managing and supporting the day-to-day operations of the Denver office along with support to others in the wider business.”
Congratulations to our winners!
