RES secures first BESS Asset Management contract in the Nordics

by RES | Jun 29, 2026 | Reading time: 2 min

Göteborg, Sweden – 29 June 2026 RES, the world’s largest independent renewable energy company, has signed an Asset Management Agreement (AMA) for the 70MW Ange BESS in Ånge municipality, Sweden. The agreement has been signed with Delta Capacity AG and Wood & Co, who acquired the project from RES as a fully ready-to-build asset.

The full-scope agreement covers technical, commercial and financial asset management services as the project moves into operational phase. RES will draw on its in-house engineering expertise to ensure ongoing performance optimisation, protect revenue and extend the asset lifecycle.

The contract is a significant milestone for RES in the Nordic market, marking the first full-scope BESS asset management agreement the company has signed in the region. It builds on RES’ established track record across the full lifecycle of utility-scale BESS projects – spanning development, EPC delivery and asset management – and adds to a global BESS asset management portfolio of approximately 1.5GW covering the UK, Ireland, Europe, North America and Australia.

Strategically located adjacent to the Björnberget wind farm and near the Alby Hydrogen project in Ånge municipality, the Ange BESS will provide flexibility and balancing services to the Swedish national grid. The project represents a further step in RES’ active growth strategy for battery storage services across the Nordics. Ånge BESS is the largest battery storage system in operation in the Nordics.

Frida Gyllestål, Sales Manager, Northern Europe, RES, said: “Securing the asset management agreement for Ange BESS is a significant milestone for RES in the Nordic market. We have been growing our BESS asset management capability globally, and this contract demonstrates that we are now delivering that expertise here in Sweden. Delta Capacity and Wood & Co can count on our full in-house engineering and commercial capability to maximise the performance and value of this asset over its lifetime.”

Lars Björklund, CEO of Delta Capacity AB, said: “Securing RES as our Asset Management partner for the Ånge BESS project is a natural next step as the asset moves into operations. Having been involved from the ground up, RES brings the technical depth and operational experience needed to deliver on both performance and long-term value. This agreement also marks a significant milestone for battery storage asset management in the Nordics – a market we see considerable growth potential in. At Delta Capacity, we build for the long term, and this is exactly the kind of partnership that reflects how we work.”
