Contact usLast week, RES people across the globe paused their normal work for the day to focus on safety. Our Group CEO Eduardo Medina and Chair Gavin McAlpine kicked off the day with a message demonstrating their passion and commitment to safety.
There was some fantastic discussion and collaboration on the day, people working together, sharing personal stories and photos plus pledging their individual commitments to safety.
The UK&I and Sweden facilitated site visits for office-based staff to wind farms in Rödene, Woolley Hill and Tormywheel. These visits helped colleagues who do not usually work on site to understand the hazards and risks that others might experience.
The UK&I team was split across five venues and simultaneously webcast their external speaker, Gary Gallagher, who told his story of falling from height which was incredibly moving and powerful. You can read his story here.
In the Americas, over 1,200 team members in office locations, remote offices and across more than 20 project sites stopped work to focus on Americas’ five safe operating principles, how to Speak Up, Take Five & Act, and learn about the drivers of human error and risk taking.
In Turkey, AKUT Search and Rescue Association spoke to colleagues about how to prepare in case of an earthquake. The threat of an earthquake is the biggest hazard in Istanbul.
Turkey also factored in a session on the psychological reasons behind risk-taking, which was also a big focus in Germany where they welcomed a psychologist and coach on the topic of stress and risk behaviour.
The French team were split across three different venues. Staff in Avignon welcomed an external speaker who led a discussion on how to spot risks and prevent them. There was lots of engagement and discussion from the workshops across all three venues.
The RES ‘Don’t Risk It’ tips were launched on the day.
Removing risks and protecting each other is at the very heart of our future growth.
