RES and Qubit Engineering announce collaboration on wind farm layout optimisation

by RES | Sep 15, 2021 | Reading time: < 1 min

RES and Qubit Engineering have started collaborating to optimize some wind farm layouts in RES’ development portfolio with support from quantum optimisation technology developed by Qubit Engineering.

Qubit Engineering will deploy their optimization technology, inspired by and deployed on quantum computers, to complement the expertise of RES’ technical team of over 50 renewable energy specialists. Together, Qubit and RES will design turbine layouts to produce the optimal energy output for wind farms in development.

‘Wind farm layout optimisation is a challenging problem that can deliver significant gains in project value. We have evaluated the technology from Qubit Engineering, are impressed with the results and are excited about our collaboration’, commented Peter Stuart, Technical Director at RES.

‘We are pleased to work with a leading developer such as RES. Leveraging the power of quantum computing for complex tasks such as wind farm layout optimisation requires an innovative and collaborative approach from developers, which are qualities that RES definitely has’, says Marouane Salhi, CEO and Founder of Qubit Engineering.
