Job Purpose
Working as a member of the UK&I Procurement team, the Assistant Procurement Manager will help deliver RES’ procurement requirements across the development and construction of wind, solar, energy storage and green hydrogen projects in the UK and Ireland.
The role is offered on a 12 month fixed term contract basis.
The Position
The Assistant Procurement Manager will assist with the planning, negotiation and contracting for the procurement of selected goods, works and services for both RES’ renewable energy projects and those of our clients. The Assistant Procurement Manager may also be asked to lead the procurement process for selected packages of work. Working in line with RES’ Mission and the Procurement team’s strategy and processes, the Assistant Procurement Manager will provide expertise and support to the wider business to ensure compliant and efficient purchasing and contracting of goods, works and services. It will also require collaboration across multiple internal teams and stakeholders. A flexible approach will be required to support the range of expected requests.
The Assistant Procurement Manager shall provide support in delivering these objectives to Procurement Managers and the Commercial Director.
As this role works with our external suppliers and subcontractors the successful candidate will be responsible for setting a personal example for RES’ business conduct with our partners.
Accountabilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Supporting the procurement managers to deliver on RES’ Mission and the procurement team’s strategies and processes.
- Supporting the procurement team in meeting the needs of the UK&I development and construction business. Developing relationships with the relevant development and construction stakeholders. Efficiently providing high quality procurement of goods, works and services.
- Working with our existing suppliers, consultants and sub-contractors and, from time to time, identifying and on-boarding new suppliers.
- Adherence to, and promotion of, existing RES Procurement strategies and processes.
- Preparing tender packages, tendering and awarding small works contracts, consultancy agreements, supply of goods agreements and purchase orders including bid evaluation.
- Supporting supplier identification, assessment, contracting, onboarding, supplier feedback
- Supporting the procurement team with administrative activities, including managing trackers, organising filing systems, contract signing processes (eg, DocuSign), working with IT (eg, on the operation of team tools)
Knowledge
- An understanding of contracts for the procurement of goods, works and services, including how they are structured and how they operate, is desirable
- Willingness to learn from other team members.
- Basic understanding of renewable energy and a willingness to learn more.
- Understanding of the renewable energy supply chain is desirable
- Awareness of the importance of HSQE requirements pertaining to Renewable Energy
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to represent RES credibly with external stakeholders
- Excellent attention to detail and accountability for delivery
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines, multi-task and respond quickly to requests
- Team worker and finisher
- Able to work at an advanced level with MS Office packages
Experience
- Previous experience in a procurement role is desirable.
- Contract negotiation experience is desirable.
- Contract drafting experience is desirable.
Qualifications
- Degree / relevant contractual qualifications OR equivalent experience in a procurement role.
