Summary:     
The Commissioning Manager directs and manages commissioning start-up and activities for utility scale solar power generating facilities.   
Requirements:       
  •  Provides overall management of the home office and project commissioning programs.
  • Provides input for integrated test schedule to support solar system release schedule.
  • Creates initial commissioning plan, as well as coordinates pre-commissioning activities (including factory acceptance tests). 
  • Collaborates with discipline engineers to identify and coordinate interconnection documentation and coordination requirements pre and post construction.
  • Organizes site turnover and OM documentation.  
  • Supports requests for completed project sites.  
  • Hires, trains and organizes the site commissioning superintendents.
  • Manages and deploys commissioning team members.
  • Oversees site commissioning staff to:
    • Ensures construction testing and QA documentation is available and assembled into the turn-over document books for the client.
    • Coordinates of onsite plant commissioning and performance testing.
    • Interfaces with the Owner’s Operations Department to schedule OM training.
    • Works with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager or their designees to jointly develop the Punch List prior to release of the system/equipment to Commissioning.
  • Directs the field Electrical, Mechanical, Instrument/Controls, SCADA Commissioning Specialists and Vendor representatives in the scheduling, supervision, and performance of all commissioning, testing activities and documentation.
  • Assists site commissioning personnel in establishment of the Safety Tagging, Lockout & Work Permit Program and ensuring compliance with its provisions.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.
   
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:    
  • Advanced level of knowledge in:
    • Utility scale solar power plants testing for EPC or Utilities in the United States
  • Intermediate level of knowledge in:
    • Underground and overhead distribution design; transmission systems and design; single and three phase electrical design.
    • DC systems architecture and testing
    • Knowledgeable in National Fire Protection Association/National Electrical Code (NFPA/NEC) standards, and IEEE/IES/API Standards.
    • NETA and IEEE standards as related to utility scale solar generation, ie. Transformers, MV and LV cabling, grounding, and solar specific component testing
    • Skill in organization, planning, decision making, problem analyses, and leadership.
    • Skill in planning, supervision, staffing and directing.
    • Experienced with both direct-hire and subcontracted construction of power facilities
    • Ability to interpret and integrate contact documents
    • Ability to assist in the development and interpretation of project schedules
    • Demonstrates effective leadership skills
    • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills
    • Superior writing and verbal skills with direct communication/management both internally and externally with both personnel and clients
    • Understands the commercial performance of power plants
    • MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook,)
    • Familiarity with NERC guidelines and various ISO and TSO organization requirements a plus.
    • Familiarity with DCS / SCADA control systems and methods for utility scale generation a plus.
    • Familiarity with testing of mechanical and solid state relaying systems a plus.
    • Ability to work extended hours and travel at short notice is required.

Qualifications:    
   
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering or related field required.
  • Certification in Project Management (PMP) preferred.
  • 4+ years in similar position with relevant experience, including Field construction, commissioning, and startup experience required.
  • 1+ years of experience managing utility-scale EPC commissioning activities required.
   
Anticipated base salary range:  $168,000 - $198,000/Annually   
   
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.

Travel domestically 31-50%, must have valid driver's license.
