Enhance power output

Wind turbines are equipped with control systems whose factory settings are engineered to perform well under typical conditions. However, they are not perfectly tuned for the specific site or the turbine’s current condition. By adjusting control settings to be consistent with actual conditions, TuneUp can improve the turbine’s power output beyond what is delivered with factory defaults.

TuneUp has the potential to achieve Annual Energy Production (AEP) improvements ranging from 0.5% to 2%, with additional gains possible when used in combination with other technologies like AeroUp. It is also used alongside Dynamic Yaw to maintain optimal settings, even when a turbine is deliberately misaligned for wake steering.

 

 

Our process

We harness extensive operational data and advanced analytics to gain a deeper insight into both current and potential performance, enabling the maximisation of your assets. Our dedicated team manages the entire process, making it seamless and straightforward for you.

1. Find optimum settings

We use Anemo technology to gather high-frequency turbine data along with all controller parameter values to establish a comprehensive understanding of the turbine’s current state and capabilities. The data is processed through our proprietary models to calculate optimum parameter settings for maximum production within the turbine’s design constraints.

2. Validate performance

Optimised parameter values are deployed to test turbines. We validate performance improvements through a before-and-after comparison or using the toggle method (preferred) to quantify the AEP gain and uncertainty.

3. Roll out to full site

Upon successful validation, the optimised settings are rolled out across the remaining turbines on the site.
