Root cause analysis (RCA) and technical due diligence (TDD)

Blade failures are among the most significant technical risks facing wind asset owners and investors today. Even newer turbine models are experiencing recurring structural damage within the first years of operation. As turbines continue to grow in size and complexity, early detection and independent analysis are critical to avoiding costly downtime and disputes.

Root cause analysis (RCA)

Our RCA service goes beyond surface-level symptoms to uncover the true source of blade damage. We examine structural behaviour, materials, manufacturing processes, and operational loads to identify hidden design flaws, serial defects, in-service damage mechanisms, and gaps in testing, certification, or repair. Our Mitigation Impact Assessment also evaluates the effectiveness of corrective actions to prevent recurrence, supporting more reliable long-term operation.

Technical due diligence (TDD)

Our TDD service assesses wind turbine blade designs to support informed procurement and safeguard long-term asset value. We review certification, test methodologies, and structural performance—validating that testing reflects real-world conditions. We also identify gaps in certification, structural risks, and vulnerabilities such as lightning protection and leading-edge erosion. This evidence-based approach gives owners and investors the confidence that blades are technically sound and fit for purpose.
