Contact us— NextEnergy Capital sites in Somerset and Northern Ireland take RES solar O&M portfolio to 470 MW —
RES, the world’s largest independent renewable energy company, has signed two new contracts to provide solar O&M services for two sites managed by clean energy investor NextEnergy Capital Group.
Under the agreements RES will provide services for Hawkers, an 11.9 MW solar site located in Somerset and 8.2MW Ballygarvey in Northern Ireland. Ballygarvey is a significant contract for RES and further establishes its support services presence in Northern Ireland where it has plans to significantly grow its O&M offering for solar and storage.
The 20.1 MW from the two new sites brings RES’ O&M portfolio in the UK to 3.7 GW. The deal will see RES provide a full range of O&M services at the solar farms, including planned and reactive maintenance, round the clock monitoring, reporting and site spares management.
Simon Deacon, Operations and Maintenance Director at RES, said: “We’re delighted to be working with NextEnergy Capital on these two projects in Somerset and Northern Ireland. We’re eager to show the value our O&M team can bring to these assets and we’re confident of increasing each site’s operational efficiency and ultimately help generate more clean energy in a profitable way. We’re confident that these initial contracts mark the beginning of a long and sustainable relationship together, built on mutual values to speed up the green transition.”
As well as its first solar O&M contract in Northern Ireland, RES recently announced a spares management agreement with Octopus Renewables, covering a large proportion of their GB solar portfolio.
RES is now aiming to develop its solar O&M presence further in Northern Ireland with their office in Larne, coupled with their wind turbine O&M team in Letterkenny providing the perfect platform for further expansion.
Simon continued: “We have a long-established presence in Northern Ireland, but we’re looking forward to developing our solar portfolio further here and our agreement with NextEnergy Capital is a landmark moment for us.
“The Northern Ireland Executive has outlined ambitious plans to source at least 70% of electricity from renewable energy by 2030. As one of Northern Ireland’s leading renewable energy companies, RES aims to utilise our 39-years’ experience of developing and construction projects as well as our asset management expertise to help meet that goal.”
RES is active in onshore and offshore wind, solar, energy storage, transmission and distribution. Offering asset management, operations and maintenance and consultancy services, RES operates in ten countries across the world and in its 39-year history has delivered more than 20GW of renewable energy projects.
