‘Green Economic Recovery’ Secured with Corlacky Hill Approval

by RES | Mar 16, 2021 | Reading time: 2 min

Leading renewable energy company RES has today received consent for Corlacky Hill Wind Farm, near Swatragh. The eleven-turbine project, backed by the Department for Infrastructure, will inject approximately £10.7 million into the economy through construction, helping to secure a ‘Green Economic Recovery’ for Northern Ireland.

Fiona Stevens, RES’ Senior Project Development Manager, said: “Renewable energy is central to our Green Economic Recovery in Northern Ireland. We’re thrilled that the Department for Infrastructure has recognised this and supported the wind farm based on the significant benefits associated with the project.

“Corlacky Hill will help us achieve the rapid energy transition required, with the electricity produced able to supply approximately 29,000 households with clean, low cost electricity.

The benefits of wind energy to Northern Ireland consumers are clear. A recent study by Baringa Partners, has shown that renewable electricity from wind has delivered a payback of £4 to every consumer, every year, since the year 2000 – driving down wholesale costs and reducing fuel imports.

RES is the world’s largest independent renewable energy company, active in onshore and offshore wind, solar, energy storage, transmission and distribution. In its 39-year history, RES has delivered more than 19GW of renewable energy projects across the globe.
