Land Constraints, Permitting Bottlenecks and Community Engagement
The energy transition will require vast amounts of land. A three-way competition between food production, biodiversity protection and energy transition means that companies will compete not only within their sector – for investment, grid connections, offtake agreements and customers – but also with adjacent industries requiring similar types of land and natural capital. So how are concerns over food and nature affecting permitting and regulations for the energy industry?
Speakers: Marco Perona (Chief Executive Officer EMEA & APAC, RES), Skye Macpherson (CAIA, Head of Global Asset Management and Acting Head of Europe, Nuveen Natural Capital), Jonathan Scurlock (Chief Adviser – Renewable Energy and Climate Change, National Farmers’ Union).
Moderator: Hugh Bromley (BNEF Head of Food, Agriculture and Nature Research, BloombergNEF)
