Celebrating 20 years in Canada

by RES | Aug 07, 2025 | Reading time: 2 min

In 2025, RES established its roots in Canada with a bold vision – to harness renewable energy for a more sustainable future. Today, we’re proud to celebrate two decades of nation-building infrastructure and Indigenous-led partnerships that are transforming how energy is developed in Canada.

Since opening our Canadian head office in Montréal in 2005, RES has grown into one of Canada’s most trusted and innovative clean energy developers. With over 2.9 GW of wind, solar, and energy storage projects developed or constructed across five provinces, our journey has been defined by innovation, collaboration and results.

Today, RES is a full-lifecycle partner in renewable energy, from development to construction, operations, and asset management. Our success is rooted in strong relationships with Indigenous Nations, host communities, utilities, and private industry, guided by a commitment to sustainability and commercial innovation.

Our customers and partners reflect on 20 years

RES has been a key partner for Innagreen in Canada since 2021. Innagreen has purchased two high-quality construction-ready wind farms from RES during that time. Both wind farms had been well-developed to high standards. We then used RES' construction team to build the projects; they delivered a high-quality build, on time, with solid subcontractors, that fully met our needs. Now that the projects are operating, we use RES' Asset Management and O&M Services. This turnkey service has been critical to the success of our business, and we look forward to working with RES in the future on many more projects across Canada.

Michael Capaldo, Vice President, Construction and Engineering

Innagreen Investments

Our investment in this project (Bekevar) not only strengthens our community’s economic portfolio, but it also reduces carbon emissions in Canada and reinforces our role as Indigenous Peoples to act as stewards to the land, waters, and air.

Cadmus Delorme

Former Chief of Cowessess First Nation

From 2017 to 2022, I had the privilege of collaborating closely with both the project development and EPC divisions of RES in Canada. My employer, the Owner, partnered with RES to submit bids for several sites in provincial renewable energy calls in two provinces.

The resource assessment and development team at RES demonstrated unparalleled expertise. Following our successful bids, the EPC segment of the project maintained this exemplary working relationship, adeptly managing the inevitable challenges that arose during construction.

The most commendable aspect of my interactions with RES throughout the project lifecycle was their consistent ability to "think like an Owner." They approached each challenge with a collaborative spirit, never assigning blame or adopting the mindset that a particular issue was solely the Owner’s responsibility. Instead, they engaged with a constructive attitude that emphasized overcoming project-related challenges together.
