Summary:
The Controller is the senior accounting leader responsible for the accuracy, integrity, compliance and timeliness of the company’s financial records and reporting. This role owns all accounting operations, establishes robust internal controls, and serves as the primary guardian of the balance sheet. The Controller provides executive leadership with solid, timely financial information and proactive balance sheet risk management to drive informed strategic decisions. In addition, the Controller is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing tax operations, treasury functions, ERP integration, Shared Services, and strategic initiatives ensuring robust internal controls. This role will require 5 days in office.
Requirements:
- Directs all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, revenue recognition, and complex month-end/year-end close processes.
- Sets strategic objectives that align with organizational priorities.
- Serves as technical expert and ensures preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in full compliance with GAAP and IFRS.
- Leads budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and long-range planning processes.
- Designs, implements, and monitors internal controls and risk mitigation strategies.
- Manage balance sheet risk proactively (e.g., liquidity, credit, reserves, and contingencies).
- Serves as the primary liaison for external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory filings.
- Delivers clear, insightful financial analysis and recommendations to the CFO and executive team.
- Builds, leads, and develops high-performing teams.
- Champions continuous process improvement, efficiencies and successful ERP/system implementations. Leads global ERP system integration, aligning accounting, tax, and cross-functional processes.
- Manages tax compliance with federal, state, local, and international regulations, working with tax advisors to optimize strategies and maintain adherence to local laws.
- Conducts tax due diligence for mergers and acquisitions and divestitures, evaluating tax risks, liabilities, and opportunities in compliance with local tax laws.
- Leads year-end external audits, acting as the main liaison to facilitate an efficient audit process.
- Optimizes tax structures for international operations and M&A activities, leveraging insights from due diligence.
- Designs and maintains a robust internal control framework, proactively enhancing controls to safeguard financial integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Ensures accurate tracking, maintenance, and safeguarding of fixed assets, including quarterly inventory counts at minimum.
- Drives process optimization by streamlining accounting, tax, reporting, and control workflows using technology and best practices.
- Develops global accounting and tax strategies, managing multi-currency consolidations and compliance with local regulations.
- Collaborates with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, and Legal teams to provide financial and tax insights, support budgeting and forecasting, and maintain local law compliance.
- Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
- Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
- Leads special projects for the CFO, including M&A due diligence, tax optimization, and financial system integrations, ensuring compliance with local laws.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, required.
- Accounting or Finance MBA or Master of Accountancy, preferred.
- CPA certification, preferred.
- 12+ Years of progressive accounting experience, required.
- Public accounting (Big 4 or large regional firm) and/or public company experience, required.
- 5+ Years of Controller or Assistant Controller experience required.
- 1+ years' experience with ERRP implementations, multi-currency consolidations, international tax compliance, and tax due diligence, required.
- Ability to travel 5-15% of the time, domestically and Internationally, required.
- Deep expertise in GAAP and IFRS, complex accounting topics, financial reporting, and internal controls required.
- Proven track record in balance sheet management and risk mitigation required.
- Strong leadership presence with experience building and mentoring accounting teams required.
- Advanced proficiency in major ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, IFS) required.
- Multi-national or multi-currency reporting experience preferred.
- Demonstrated strategic leadership in managing accounting and tax projects, including tax compliance, M&A due diligence, and local law compliance within a global context.
- Advanced skills in financial reporting and consolidation, synthesizing complex data into actionable, compliant insights to share with executives, auditors, and stakeholders.
- Exceptional project management abilities, driving process improvements, system implementations, and due diligence activities.
- Strong business acumen, able to interpret contracts and tax implications to support business decisions and deal-making.
- Proven ability to collaborate with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, and Legal departments to ensure compliance with local laws.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) and data visualization tools (such as Power BI and Tableau).
- Experience in energy, construction, or project-based industries, particularly with project accounting and tax due diligence, is beneficial.
- Functional competencies include accountability, building strategic partnerships, business acumen, ethics & integrity and managing vision & purpose.
Anticipated base salary range: $217,000 - $271,000
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
