The position

RES is seeking a Control Engineer to join the Group Engineering Industrial Control & SCADA (IC&S) team. The role focuses on the development, deployment, and support of industrial control systems and SCADA solutions across renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, and energy storage systems.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary project teams to interpret system requirements and deliver safe, secure, and reliable control solutions. This role blends traditional controls engineering with modern software development practices and plays a key part in ensuring highquality, maintainable systems throughout their lifecycle.

Accountabilities

                      Design, develop, and implement industrial control and SCADA systems in line with project, contractual, and regulatory requirements.

                      Develop and execute test procedures to validate control systems prior to deployment.

                      Use Git and GitHub to manage the full software lifecycle, including version control, issue tracking, feature development, and pull requests.

                      Manage assigned technical work packages and support application deployment activities.

                      Develop diagnostic and analysis tools to assess control system performance.

                      Ensure solutions meet safety, cybersecurity, and quality standards.

                      Support troubleshooting and issue resolution during development, commissioning, and operational phases.

                      Produce and maintain technical documentation to support system delivery and contractual testing.

                      Remain current with industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices in control and SCADA engineering.

Skills & Knowledge

SCADA & Infrastructure

                      Strong experience developing and configuring SCADA systems, particularly Inductive Automation Ignition.

                      Experience with server configuration and management for industrial systems.

                      Knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure such as Azure

Automation Software Development

                      Experience with Python, C#, or C++ for developing tools and applications.

                      Understanding of software development best practices, including testing and version control.

                      Familiarity with platforms such as Rockwell Automation Studio 5000, SEL AcSELerator, and CODESYS.

Communication & Collaboration

                      Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and international teams.

                      Ability to communicate professionally with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

                      Fluent spoken and written English.

Knowledge & Technical Understanding

                      Knowledge of industrial networking and cybersecurity principles.

                      Understanding of power industry communication protocols, including OPC, Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 61850.

                      Understanding of modern software development techniques and processes

Additional Information

                      Occasional travel to other company offices may be required as part of project delivery and team collaboration.

                      You will report to the Head of IC&S Engineering.

Experience

                      Typically, 2–7 year’s experience in industrial automation or SCADA engineering.

Qualifications

                      Bachelor’s degree in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer/Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

                      Equivalent industry experience will be considered in place of formal qualifications.
