Is Wind Still a Profitable Industry?
Wind power is an essential technology for achieving net-zero emissions. But expected build is now far short of the targets in most countries in Europe and abroad. High interest rates and supply chain constraints are putting pressure on industry profitability, and several offshore developers are looking to renegotiate government offtake contracts amid rising costs. Still, ambition around wind continues to ratchet up and developers are keen to find solutions for the near-term bottlenecks. This panel reviews the specific challenges facing the wind industry and how it can return to growth.
