Today, clean energy helps power the U.S. economy, and there is a clear demand for American-made clean energy. In fact, the investment announcements for clean energy made over the past two years are equal to the total clean energy investments made in the four decades before. In the last two years, the utility-scale clean energy industry has announced<\/a> at least $500 billion in capital investments for domestic clean energy projects and manufacturing facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RES is committed to contributing to this momentum to meet the increasing electricity demands and to safeguard America’s power grid. As we celebrate American Clean Power Week<\/a>, three key benefits of clean energy for local communities stand out, supported by data provided by the American Clean Power Association (ACP)<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Job creation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 460,000 Americans are currently employed in the wind, solar, and energy storage sectors. The industry aims to reach 1 million clean energy jobs by 2030, creating a green and expanding workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    <\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Veterans are helping to lead the way. Over 35,000 veterans are employed in the clean energy industry\u2014which is 80% above the national average. These veterans are powering not just our homes, but also our nation’s future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    2. Local economic growth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Wind and solar projects contribute over $3.5 billion in state and local tax payments and landowner lease payments annually. In 2023 alone, clean energy projects in the U.S. paid landowners $1.8 billion in land lease payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Most of the clean energy projects in the U.S. are situated on privately leased land. These private landholders, often farmers and ranchers in rural areas, receive annual land lease payments for hosting wind turbines, solar panels, and battery storage. These agreements offer a consistent source of income and financial stability throughout the lifespan of the clean energy project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    3. Meeting increasing energy needs with American-made energy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The increasing demand for electricity, along with the need to secure our power grid, has led to a growing momentum for clean energy. Energy independence is crucial for maintaining economic stability; we cannot afford to rely on other nations in the event of an energy crisis. By harnessing our nation\u2019s abundant clean energy, we can reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Wind, solar, and storage are driving the U.S. economy and communities across America. While many are only just beginning to realize the industry’s contributions and potential, RES has been a pioneer in renewable energy for over 40 years, delivering 24 GW of projects worldwide.
