The Energy Storage Solutions Consortium will develop a first-of-its-kind methodology to quantify the greenhouse gas emissions benefits of stored energy usage<\/p>\n

BROOMFIELD, Colo. \u2013 Sept. 14, 2022 \u2013 RES, the world\u2019s largest independent renewable energy company, today announced that it has joined the advisory committee of The Energy Storage Solutions Consortium (\u201cthe Consortium\u201d), formed today by a group of leading organizations, including Meta<\/a>, REsurety<\/a>, Broad Reach Power<\/a> and others. <\/p>\n

The Consortium was created to assess and maximize the greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction potential of electricity storage technologies. The group\u2019s goal is to create an open-source, third-party-verified methodology to quantify the GHG benefits of certain grid-connected energy storage projects, and to ultimately help add a tool for organizations to create credible progress toward their net zero emissions goals. <\/p>\n

\u201cAs energy storage technologies are poised for exponential growth, it\u2019s imperative that we are cognizant of the greenhouse gas emissions generated by the use of such technologies,\u201d said John Rohde, CEO of RES in the Americas. \u201cThe Consortium is designed to help quantify the impacts of such technology and give us the ability to grow this technology in a sustainable way. We\u2019re incredibly honored to join this group and offer our help in any way we can.\u201d <\/p>\n

In addition to RES, more than 20 other companies have signed on to the Consortium\u2019s advisory committee, including leading technology companies, emissions data providers, investors, storage developers and service providers, and non-governmental organizations among others. <\/p>\n
