RES\u2019 Head of External Affairs, Rachel Anderson, has been elected to the Board of Scottish Renewables. In the recent election, Rachel was one of five new directors appointed to the Board by its member companies.<\/p>\n
Rachel has been in the renewables industry for the last 12 years and brings to the Board experience of working across the UK and Ireland on range of different technologies \u2013 offshore wind, onshore wind, solar and energy storage, throughout the full project lifecycle from inception to generation. Rachel is also the Chairman of the Northern Ireland Renewables Industry Group (NIRIG) – a joint collaboration between the Irish Wind Energy Association and RenewableUK.<\/p>\n
Commenting on her appointment, Rachel said <\/strong>\u201cWorking for RES, an independent renewable energy company who is leading the way in reducing the cost of energy, I\u2019m delighted to be joining the Board of Scottish Renewables. The work of trade associations in supporting our industry is vital, as the possibilities for renewable energy are now boundless and I believe Scottish Renewables plays a pivotal role in shaping the future.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI look forward to working with the Board and Scottish Renewables to ensure renewable energy becomes the cornerstone of our economy in Scotland \u2013 supporting jobs, maximising supply chain opportunities, providing a platform for innovation and delivering decarbonisation at the lowest cost to consumers.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n The recent election held among Scottish Renewables\u2019 260 member companies, saw a record number of candidates (24), a record number of total votes cast and a record turnout (101 out of 170 eligible commercial members voting \u2013 nearly 60%).<\/p>\n Claire Mack, Chief Executive of Scottish Renewables, said:<\/strong> \u201cIt is great to see so many members engaging in what is a vital process for the proper governance of the organisation at a complex and challenging time for all parts of our industry.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cIncreased participation in the election process, alongside the introduction of greater gender diversity, was one of our key organisational objectives, so I am pleased to see both reflected in this outcome.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI would like to say a big thank you to Jeremy Sainsbury, Colin Anderson and David for their contributions to Scottish Renewables over their many years as directors and wish the new directors all the best in their new roles.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" RES\u2019 Head of External Affairs, Rachel Anderson, has been elected to the Board of Scottish Renewables.
