Seven apprentices have been selected from the Grimsby Institute to study on the first of its kind apprenticeship scheme, funded by RES.<\/p>\n

RES, the world\u2019s largest independent renewable energy company, has launched its\u2019 first dedicated apprenticeship <\/span>programme<\/span> in the UK&I. The education of the next generation of renewable energy leaders <\/span>continues to be <\/span>a priority for the business as <\/span>it<\/span> expand<\/span>s<\/span> its<\/span> Operations and Maintenance (O&M) business.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Seven wind turbine technician apprentices aged from 16 to 26 <\/span>will be taught <\/span>in a<\/span> classroom environment <\/span>and<\/span> on-site<\/span> by a team of <\/span>lecturers<\/span> with<\/span> specialist<\/span> backgrounds in engineering and <\/span>renewables<\/span>. At the end of the <\/span>three-year<\/span> programme<\/span> the apprentices will<\/span> secure<\/span> the qualification of Level 3<\/span> –<\/span> Maintenance Operation Engineer Technician<\/span>, setting them up for a <\/span>successful <\/span>career in <\/span>the booming <\/span>renewables<\/span> industry<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Due to an <\/span>increasing demand for <\/span>w<\/span>ind <\/span>t<\/span>urbine <\/span>t<\/span>echnician<\/span>s<\/span> RES <\/span>has invested in th<\/span>e new apprentices<\/span> to support <\/span>their<\/span> continued growth<\/span>.<\/span> S<\/span>upply<\/span>ing<\/span> skilled<\/span> technicians for O&M contracts<\/span> is vital <\/span>for<\/span> minimis<\/span>ing<\/span> delays<\/span> and<\/span> costs<\/span>,<\/span> whilst<\/span> also <\/span>maximising<\/span> generation for clients.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Simon Deacon, <\/span>Operations and Maintenance Director at RES, said<\/span>:<\/span><\/span> \u201cGrimsby <\/span>lies at<\/span> the <\/span>epicentre<\/span> of offshore wind<\/span> industry<\/span> and with<\/span> a critical mass of wind farms <\/span>in the area the<\/span> Grimsby Institute has <\/span>developed<\/span> state-of-the-art training facilities and has <\/span>excellent <\/span>teaching staff with direct industry experience.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>That makes it the ideal location for <\/span>RES <\/span>to<\/span> invest<\/span> in<\/span> the<\/span> workforce of tomorrow<\/span>.
