Completed in 2012, the 10 megawatt Rutley Solar project is the first large scale solar project completed under Ontario's FIT (Feed‐in Tariff) programme. Rutley Solar represents the most northern use of tracking technology to date. Tracking technology requires precision-controlled installation to operate efficiently. Stringent tolerance on the foundation piles must be held so that tracker alignment is maintained. Without this, binding can occur, causing premature wear on the bearings.

In addition, the presence of large subsurface rocks required that some of the foundations be drilled and reinforced with concrete.Despite the significant challenges of winter construction, including exceptionally muddy conditions, cold temperatures, and short days, RES successfully completed the project on schedule.
