{"id":29301,"date":"2024-09-27T11:14:44","date_gmt":"2024-09-27T10:14:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.res-group.com\/stanwell-signs-historic-deal-with-res-to-acquire-australias-largest-publicly-owned-wind-farm\/"},"modified":"2024-09-27T11:27:12","modified_gmt":"2024-09-27T10:27:12","slug":"stanwell-signs-historic-deal-with-res-to-acquire-australias-largest-publicly-owned-wind-farm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.res-group.com\/au\/resources\/news\/stanwell-signs-historic-deal-with-res-to-acquire-australias-largest-publicly-owned-wind-farm\/","title":{"rendered":"Stanwell signs historic deal with RES to acquire Australia\u2019s largest publicly owned wind farm"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stanwell.com\/\">Stanwell <\/a>and global renewable energy company RES sign historic deal for Queenslanders to own the Tarong West Wind Farm in the South Burnett.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The acquisition by the publicly owned generator for the 436.5MW wind farm project to be located south-west of Kingaroy follows the recent development approval issued by the state government.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Queensland Government is backing the project with $776.1 million in funding committed to date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The project will create around 200 construction jobs and 15 operational jobs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Queensland Government has welcomed Stanwell\u2019s acquisition of the 436.5MW Tarong West Wind Farm project from global renewable energy company RES.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stanwell and RES recently signed the historic agreement, meaning Queenslanders will own 100 per cent of the project and the clean energy it will produce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project located in South Burnett will realise significant economic benefits for Queenslanders, including around 200 construction jobs and hundreds more indirect jobs as well as 15 operational jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Tarong West Wind Farm project, which recently received development approval, will feature 97 wind turbines and produce enough clean energy to power the equivalent of 230,000 homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Final Investment Decision is expected in early 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Michael O\u2019Rourke, Stanwell CEO, commented<\/strong>:<br><em>\u201cAdding the 436.5MW Tarong West Wind Farm project into Stanwell\u2019s renewable energy portfolio is an exciting chapter not only in our renewable energy story, but also Queensland\u2019s.<br>\u201cIt will play a critical role in transitioning our energy portfolio and brings us closer to our goal of having 9 to 10GW of large-scale wind and solar capacity by 2035.<br>\u201cStanwell now has more than 4000 MW of renewable energy and storage in our portfolio under contract, in development or under construction.<\/em><br><em>\u201cWe will continue to work constructively with RES and in close consultation with the South Burnett community, which we have been a proud part of for four decades, as we develop this project through to Final Investment Decision.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Matt Rebbeck, RES CEO-Australia commented<\/strong>:<br><em>\u201cRES is excited to reach this significant milestone in the development of the Tarong West Wind Farm.
