RES and \u00c5nge Municipality sign agreement on new green hydrogen plant to support the local industry and deliver jobs<\/span><\/p>\n

Leading renewable energy company RES has announced a collaboration with \u00c5nge Municipality in Sweden to deliver a new green hydrogen plant in Alby.\u00a0 Together RES and \u00c5nge Municipality aim to supply green hydrogen to the local industry and accelerate the energy transition.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The aim of the partnership between \u00c5nge Municipality and RES is to utilise current available grid capacity to give the local industry access to green hydrogen in \u00c5nge by 2024.\u00a0 The new green hydrogen plant will utilise renewable electricity, enabling the realisation of \u00c5nge Municipality as a development hub for green energy by attracting new industries and creating many new jobs.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Initially anticipated to be around 20MW, the project will gradually be expanded through a new grid connection.\u00a0 With a high capacity of renewable electricity available from wind projects both operational and planned in the local Tov\u00e5sen cluster, the site in Alby is ideally located for the production of green hydrogen. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Magnus Igel, Development Manager \u2013 RES, said:<\/span><\/strong> \u201c\u00c5nge Municipality continues to make great progress towards its goal of becoming a hub for green energy. With industry’s increased need for green energy and conditions such as available land, locally produced electricity, process water and hydrogen, \u00c5nge is well placed.\u00a0 <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re excited to start our first green hydrogen project in Sweden with \u00c5nge Municipality. RES is investing heavily in green hydrogen as we recognise the important role it will play in supporting industry.\u00a0 The new project will create many new jobs in both the short and long term.\u201d <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Erik L\u00f6vgren, Chairman of the City Council, commented:<\/span><\/strong> \u201cWe are now seeing the results of the sustained work we have been doing over the last few years. My three priorities are: jobs, jobs and jobs and it is the green transition that will be one of the biggest enablers for our municipality moving forward.\u201d<\/em> <\/span><\/p>\n

Linda Mattsson, Opposition Councillor, commented:<\/span><\/strong> \u201cIt is very positive that the municipality together with the business community can create the conditions for growth.\u00a0 \u00c5nge municipality will benefit directly from the energy transition that is underway.\u201d <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sigrid Nord, Project Manager \u2013 RES, added: <\/span><\/strong>\u201cThere is great potential in the \u00c5nge area for renewable electricity and green hydrogen.\u00a0 Using the green energy production that is being built and planned right now we are planning a two-phase project.\u00a0 This will enable phase one to come online at the end of 2024 and phase two with a new electricity connection to enable a larger hydrogen plant by 2026\/2027.\u201d <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Mattias Robertsson Bly, Head of \u00c5nge Municipality, said:<\/span><\/strong> \u201cThe establishment of a renewable hydrogen plant is a perfect first step in developing and profiling the municipality in general, and site Alby in particular, as a future hub for green industry. This is an important step in the growth that we are looking forward to in the municipality.” <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
