Wadlow Farm Wind Farm

The proposed Wadlow Farm wind farm will be situated some 10 miles to the East of Cambridge, near to the A11 trunk road. The planned layout of the 13 turbines takes into account the findings of the environmental impact assessment for the site. Each wind turbine will have a maximum output of 2.3MW with a maximum height of 120m to the tip of the blade. The electricity they generate will be fed into the local grid via underground cables.

The annual electricity production of the proposed wind farm should be sufficient to meet the electricity demand of over 16,700 homes. This is equivalent to nearly one third of all the homes in the South Cambridgeshire district.

As part of the planning application an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is being conducted. This assesses the potential impacts and effects of a development on the natural, physical and human environment and examines the interaction between them. A report known as the Environmental Statement (ES) will be produced based on the EIA , and this will be submitted with the planning application in early 2006.
