Opoul-Périllos Wind Farm, Pyrénées
Orientales, France
The wind farm is situated
20km north-east of Perpignan, close to the villages of Opoul-Périllos
and Salses-le-Château and was the first to be built in the Pyrénées
Orientales departement.
It consists of 6 turbines, giving a total installed
capacity of 10.5MW, enough to provide the annual electricity needs
of around 13,000 people and reduce CO2 emissions by 16,500 tonnes a year.
The project was developed by EOLE-RES and constructed in just three months.
The wind farm was commissioned in March 2003 and is owned by ST Microelectronics
and operated by EOLE-RES.
