Lough Hill Wind Farm, County Tyrone

Lough Hill Wind Farm, near Drumquin Co Tyrone, began generating in July 2007. The wind farm was designed and built by RES, using local contractors, and is now owned by RES-Gen Ltd. The six turbines will produce renewable electricity equivalent to the needs of over 4,000 homes annually.

RES ran a competition for local schools to choose names for the 6 turbines. The winning entries: Airagon, Power Tower, Big Gusty, Knots to Watts, Wilbur and Joe Power, were entered by pupils from Castlederg High School, St. Eugene’s High School Castlederg, St. John’s Business and Enterprise College Dromore and St. Mary’s College Irvinestown.
