Curryfree Wind Farm, County L'Derry

Curryfree Planning Ref A/2004/1243
Validated December 2004

RES UK & Ireland has been granted planning permission to develop a 6 turbine wind farm at Curryfree, south of Newbuildings / Drumahoe and north of Dunnamanagh, Co. L'Derry. This would generate equivalent renewable and pollution-free electricity to meet the domestic electricity requirements of approximately 9500 households.

Public Information Programme

The public information programme for the Curryfree wind farm proposal began in June 2004. We sent leaflets and posters to over 500 local political representatives, community groups, churches, schools and businesses. 35 response sheets were received in return and we spoke to most local Councillors in person or on the phone. We visited 80 houses on the Bigwood, Rushall, Curryfree, Disertownen, Drum and Killymallaght roads. There were 10 articles in five local papers. 60 people in total attended two public exhibitions held on the 13th and 14th of September 2004.
