Ora More Planning Ref L/2005/3070 validated January 2006

RES UK & Ireland is proposing to develop a new wind farm in Ora More, Belcoo, County Fermanagh. The wind farm will consist of up to 6 turbines and will generate enough renewable electricity to meet the needs of an estimated **7,900 households every year.

This wind farm gained planning consent in March 2011.

Public Information Programme

The public information programme for Ora More began in August 2005. We sent out over 200 information packs to community groups, schools, churches, businesses, organisations and political representatives. We left information with the 36 houses closest to the site (Holywell, Caranmore, Mullyard, Carrickadranton, Boho, Gardenhill and Mullylusty Roads) and managed to speak to 24 householders in person. We spoke to local councillors and held a public exhibition in Belcoo, which was attended by 35 local residents.

Footnote: * Final wind farm capacity will vary depending on the outcome of planning permission and turbine type selected. The 13.8 MW figure used here is based on 6 turbines each rated a conservative 2.3 MW. ** The 7,900 homes figure is a conservative estimate based on an 13.8  MW project, the 2008 GB average household electricity consumption of 4478kWh pa and the 2008 UK-average onshore wind load factor of 29.4%, source DECC. The 'number of homes' figure may vary as more site-specific data becomes available.
