Research and Development

To maintain our position at the forefront of the industry, RES is constantly investing in research and development into wind turbine and wind farm technology, engineering and implementation. RES is an active participant in a number of international research projects and standards committees. This has enabled us to work with a wide range of partners around the world on a variety of projects using the expertise we have developed.

One area of research and development was the RES 52/1000 1MW turbine, at the time the most advanced and powerful wind turbine to be designed and produced in the UK, developed by RES with support from the UK Department of Trade and Industry and the EU's THERMIE programme. The demonstration machine began operating in December 1998 in Northern Ireland and results exceeded expectations.
