Of all the renewable energy
technologies, offshore wind energy has the potential to deliver the largest
quantities of clean sustainable electricity from individual projects.
As
one of the foremost developers of onshore wind energy in the UK, RES has
an unrivalled team of civil, electrical and environmental engineers. We
have strengthened this team through the addition of offshore engineering
expertise and the dedication of senior staff to offshore work, which provides
us with unrivalled experience to meet the challenges presented by the development
of this powerful, abundant natural resource.
RES is investigating the potential for commercial offshore wind farms in a number of European markets. Currently, RES is working on three sites off Lincolnshire, in collaboration with the projects' owner, Centrica Renewables. Inner Dowsing and Lynn, near Skegness (90MW each) received consent from the Government in September 2003 and construction has begun. The larger adjacent Lincs offshore site (250MW) is currently waiting for consent to be granted by BERR (formerly DTI).
