RES has today submitted a planning application to Dumfries and Galloway Council for Solwaybank Wind Farm located south of the B7068 between Langholm and Lockerbie. submitted a planning application for Penmanshiel Wind Farm, near
Grantshouse in the Scottish Borders. The proposal is for 15
turbines, each with a maximum height to the tip of blade of 100m.
The planning application along with supporting documents including
an Environmental Statement (ES), Non- Technical Summary (NTS) and
Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) Report has been submitted to
Scottish Borders Council. The wind farm has an approximate capacity
of 30MW and, if approved, the wind farm is likely to generate
electricity equivalent to the average demand of more than 17,000
households - or approximately 30% of the households in the Scottish
Borders.

Ambitious scenarios show renewables could
meet between 60-90% of UK electricity demand by 2030

WWF has said that renewable sources of energy could meet between
60-90% of the UK's electricity demand by 2030, and recommends that

Commercial Quay following a £4 million refurbishment
The first wind turbine components will arrive
today at RES's Hill of Towie Wind Farm, near Keith in Moray. The
first consignment of blades arrived by ship last week into Aberdeen
Harbour's Commercial Quay, which has recently been the subject of a
£4 million refurbishment. Their delivery to site marks another
major milestone for the 48MW project, which is RES's largest wind
farm in the UK to date.

for the renewable energy industry, has today published the most
comprehensive ever employment figures for the wind energy industry,
showing a 91 per cent increase in full-time employment in the
sector between 2007/8 and 2009/10. The growth in employment stands
in contrast to the overall UK employment level, which has shrunk
during the same period by 3.4 per cent.

As part of the consultation process for the proposed North Blyth Biomass Power Station, renewable energy developer RES will be holding a second series of public exhibitions in the area during the last week of January. The exhibitions will unveil the final design for the power plant along with the results of RES's environmental and technical studies prior to submitting the planning application in the Spring.

An empty delivery vehicle, capable of carrying the larger components of wind turbines, will make its way from Hull docks towards Roos village on Monday January 10th.
