RES has submitted a planning application for the Forss Wind Farm Extension, located at the former US Naval Radio Station near Thurso in Caithness. The proposal is for five turbines, each with a maximum height of 81m to the tip of the blade. The wind farm will have an indicative capacity of between 4.3 - 6.5 MW depending on the type of turbine chosen. The planning application along with an Environmental Statement (ES) has been submitted to The Highland Council.

Wind Farm, between Woolley and Ellington, near Huntingdon. If
approved, the 4-turbine wind farm would provide enough clean, green
electricity to meet the average demand of more than 5,000 homes.
Each turbine would have a maximum height of 131m to the tip of the
blade.

Leading British renewable energy developer RES announced today its plans to develop an environmentally-friendly biomass power plant within the Port of Liverpool at Alexandra Dock. The project will generate green electricity for homes and businesses as well as bringing permanent local jobs to Sefton, Liverpool and the wider Merseyside area and an investment of approximately £300m. The project will be 100 to 150MW in size depending on the outcome of the initial feasibility studies.

The 11-turbine wind farm would provide enough clean, green electricity equivalent to the average demand of over 14,000 homes. EOLE-RES has announced today the start of construction of the "Langres Sud" wind farm. Once completed, this wind farm will take EOLE-RES past its first terawatt hour of clean, green energy. Located in the south of the Haute Marne Department, on the Langres plateau, this wind farm will be one of the largest in France with an installed capacity of 52 MW. It will be made up of 26 x 2 MW turbines, capable of generating nearly 120 million kWh annually - enough to cover the electricity needs of approximately 50,000 people.

More new wind power capacity was installed in the EU in 2009 than any other electricity-generating technology, new statistics published today by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) reveal. 39% of all new capacity installed in 2009 was wind power, followed by gas (26%) and solar photovoltaics (16%). Europe decommissioned more coal and nuclear capacity than it installed in 2009. Taken together, renewable energy technologies account for 61% of new power generating capacity in 2009.
