RES RECEIVES CONSENT FOR THE DUNMAGLASS WIND FARM

The Scottish Government today gave the green light for RES's 99MW Dunmaglass Wind Farm. The newly consented Dunmaglass Wind Farm, located approximately 25 km south of Inverness, will comprise of 33 wind turbines, each with a maximum height of 120m to the tip of the blade.

FINANCIAL CLOSE FOR KELBURN WIND FARM

Leading renewable energy developer RES has announced today a financing deal for its Kelburn Wind Farm in North Ayrshire, Scotland. Kelburn Wind Farm continues RES's growth in developing and owning projects in the UK. The project has been financed through a portfolio facility established earlier this year jointly with Lloyds Banking Group and BNP Paribas and it is anticipated that further assets will be introduced in 2011.

RES SUBMITS PLANNING APPLICATION FOR FORSS WIND FARM EXTENSION

RES has submitted a planning application for the Forss Wind Farm Extension, located at the former US Naval Radio Station near Thurso in Caithness. The proposal is for five turbines, each with a maximum height of 81m to the tip of the blade. The wind farm will have an indicative capacity of between 4.3 - 6.5 MW depending on the type of turbine chosen. The planning application along with an Environmental Statement (ES) has been submitted to The Highland Council.

RES has submitted a planning application for Glenchamber Wind Farm, located between New Luce, Kirkcowan and Glenluce, in Dumfries and Galloway. The proposal is for 11 turbines, each with a maximum height of 126.5m to the tip of the blade. The planning application along with an Environmental Statement (ES) and Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) Report has been submitted to Dumfries and Galloway Council.

RES SUBMITS PLANNING APPLICATION FOR WOOLLEY HILL WIND FARM

4-turbine wind farm will power more than 5,000 homes
RES has submitted a planning application for Woolley Hill Wind Farm, between Woolley and Ellington, near Huntingdon. If approved, the 4-turbine wind farm would provide enough clean, green electricity to meet the average demand of more than 5,000 homes. Each turbine would have a maximum height of 131m to the tip of the blade.

RES GROUP CELEBRATES BREAKING THE 5GW BARRIER

RES announced today that it has now delivered over 5,000 megawatts (MW) of wind energy capacity worldwide following the recent completion of the 101.2MW Hatchet Ridge Wind Farm in California, USA. This latest project brings the total to 5,054MW of capacity developed and/or constructed by companies within the RES Group since RES' first project at Carland Cross in Cornwall, England in 1992.

RES TO BRING GREEN JOBS AND BOOST LOCAL ECONOMY WITH PLANS FOR A £300m BIOMASS POWER PLANT

Leading British renewable energy developer RES announced today its plans to develop an environmentally-friendly biomass power plant within the Port of Liverpool at Alexandra Dock. The project will generate green electricity for homes and businesses as well as bringing permanent local jobs to Sefton, Liverpool and the wider Merseyside area and an investment of approximately £300m. The project will be 100 to 150MW in size depending on the outcome of the initial feasibility studies.

RES ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR GLENCHAMBER WIND FARM

RES has announced plans for a wind farm, between New Luce, Kirkcowan and Glenluce, in Dumfries and Galloway. The 11-turbine wind farm would provide enough clean, green electricity equivalent to the average demand of over 14,000 homes. Public consultation exhibitions about the project will be held at St Cowans Hall in Kirkcowan from 3pm to 8pm on Thursday 2 September, New Luce Memorial Hall from 10am - 3pm on Friday 3 September and Glenluce Hall from 11am - 5pm on Saturday 4 September.

RES ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR NEW BRIDGE ACCESS ROUTE TO KEADBY WIND FARM

RES has today announced plans to build a new bridge, which will allow access to its Keadby wind farm site. A planning application has been submitted to North Lincolnshire Council for the bridge, which will span the drainage ditches, the Stainforth & Keadby Canal and the railway line, on the site of the part-completed power station bridge to the east of Ealand village.

NORDISK VINDKRAFT AND HGCAPITAL SIGN DEAL TO BUILD A 44MW WIND FARM IN MALÅ, SWEDEN

NV Nordisk Vindkraft AB and HgCapital announced today that they have signed agreements for the sale and construction of the Ytterberg wind farm in the Malå Municipality, Västerbotten County, Sweden. The 44MW project was developed by Nordisk Vindkraft, a subsidiary of Renewable Energy Systems, who will also build the project under an EPC contract, using 22 V-90 2MW turbines supplied by Vestas.

RES AMERICAS SELLS CROSSROADS WIND TO OKLAHOMA GAS & ELECTRIC

Renewable Energy Systems Americas Inc. (RES Americas), a national leader in the development and construction of renewable energy projects, has announced that it will transfer ownership of the Crossroads Wind Energy Project to Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OG&E). Located in Dewey County, Oklahoma the 227.5 MW project will consist of 95 Siemens 2.3 MW turbines and three Siemens 3.0 MW direct-drive turbines, the first of their kind in the United States.

EOLE-RES BUILDS ITS FIRST PV SOLAR PLANT

EOLE-RES announced today the start of construction of its first photovoltaic solar plant in the Aude region. After two years of intense development, EOLE-RES has succeeded in its diversification into the solar energy business by beginning the construction of its first photovoltaic power plant, Puits Castan. The project is located in the Aude region in the foothills of the Montagne Noire.

RES Americas is pleased to announce construction has begun on a 50.4 kilowatt (kW) solar installation at the company's headquarters in Broomfield, Colorado. The roof‐mounted system consists of 252 Canadian Solar Modules. Also planned are six ground mounted "flowers" consisting of four solar modules and one mini‐inverter at each "flower".

EWEA PREDICTS A STRONG EUROPEAN MARKET FOR WIND TURBINES IN 2010

The European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) today released its forecast for wind power installations in 2010. It expects 10 gigawatt (GW) of new wind power capacity to be installed in the EU during 2010, taking total installed capacity by the end of 2010 to almost 85 GW - an increase of 13%.

EOLE-RES PRODUCES ITS FIRST TERAWATT HOUR OF CLEAN GREEN ELECTRICITY

EOLE-RES has announced today the start of construction of the "Langres Sud" wind farm. Once completed, this wind farm will take EOLE-RES past its first terawatt hour of clean, green energy. Located in the south of the Haute Marne Department, on the Langres plateau, this wind farm will be one of the largest in France with an installed capacity of 52 MW. It will be made up of 26 x 2 MW turbines, capable of generating nearly 120 million kWh annually - enough to cover the electricity needs of approximately 50,000 people.

MORE WIND POWER CAPACITY INSTALLED LAST YEAR IN THE EU THAN ANY OTHER POWER TECHNOLOGY

More new wind power capacity was installed in the EU in 2009 than any other electricity-generating technology, new statistics published today by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) reveal. 39% of all new capacity installed in 2009 was wind power, followed by gas (26%) and solar photovoltaics (16%). Europe decommissioned more coal and nuclear capacity than it installed in 2009. Taken together, renewable energy technologies account for 61% of new power generating capacity in 2009.
