COP15- WIND POWER WORKS
Amongst thousands of delegates and lobbying organisations at COP15 the wind industry is making its presence known, promoting wind power as an economic solution to climate change that - importantly - can be deployed rapidly to meet the urgent emissions reductions needed by 2020.
The Wind Power Works campaign run by the Global Wind Energy Council, which represents hundreds of wind energy businesses around the world, has organised a programme of activities that have been well-attended by negotiators, government ministers, the media, business and NGOs.

RES AMERICAS ANNOUNCES COMPLETION OF WILD HORSE EXPANSION WIND PROJECT
Renewable Energy Systems Americas Inc. (RES Americas) announced the substantial completion of the Wild Horse Expansion Wind Project on November 9, 2009.  The 44 megawatt (MW) project, in Kittitas County Washington, expands the existing Wild Horse Wind Facility from 229 MW to 273 MW through the addition of 22 Vestas V80 2.0 MW wind turbines.

BIOMASS POWER PROJECT TO RELOCATE TO NORTH BLYTH
RES announced today that, in agreement with Port of Blyth, the proposed location for the Blyth biomass project will be moved from the old Bates Colliery site to the Port's state-of-the-art bulk materials handling facility in North Blyth. The simple move across the river will allow the project to benefit from the recent Port infrastructure upgrades at Battleship Wharf, give access via rail for fuel deliveries, and reduce the impact of the project on the local community as it will avoid using the congested Cowpen Road.

NEW WIND POWER VENTURE BY JÄMTKRAFT, NORDISK VINDKRAFT AND SIEMENS

RES SUBMITS PLANNING APPLICATION FOR PARK HEAR WIND FARM
RES has now submitted a planning application for 9 turbines at Park Head Farm (between the villages of Wingates and Netherwitton), approximately 10km north-west of Morpeth. The wind farm would generate enough pollution-free electricity a year to meet the annual electrical demand of over 9,000 average homes, equivalent to 46% of the annual consumption of all the houses in the  Morpeth district.

RES TO BRING GREEN JOBS TO PORT OF BLYTH WITH BIOMASS POWER PLANT
RES has been selected by the Port of Blyth as the ‘preferred developer’ of an environmentally-friendly biomass power plant on the site of the former Bates Colliery in Blyth in Northumberland, it was announced today. The 100MW project will generate green electricity for homes and businesses and the biomass fuel will be delivered
to the site primarily through the port. The plant will help the region meet its targets for renewable energy as well as bringing permanent jobs to Blyth.

SOLWAYBANK WIND FARM APPLICATION SUBMITTED
RES is pleased to announce it has submitted plans for Solwaybank wind farm, located 8km south west of Langholm, to Dumfries and Galloway Council.  Solwaybank wind farm will have an installed capacity of 42 MW.  Each turbine will be rated at 2MW and have a maximum blade tip height of 126.5m.  The site is in a great location to harness the excellent wind speeds in the area and provide enough clean green power for over 24,500 Scottish households, which is equivalent to 37% of the households in Dumfries and Galloway.

RES CELEBRATES GLOBAL WIND DAY
RES celebrated Global Wind Day on 15 June in style and gave visitors the chance to experience the power of the wind, with three of its operating regions opening up wind farms to the general public.  The weekend saw RES welcoming over 400 visitors spread across Scotland, France and Sweden, with plans for another day of activities in England on the 20th.  Worldwide, Global Wind Day 2009 was a huge success with over 200 events across 35 countries.

BEECHWOOD PARK SCHOOL WINS NATIONAL TOYOTA CHALLENGE
Pupils from Beechwood Park picked up the top prize this week in the National final of the Toyota Technology Challenge 2009 (TTC).  Team Mafia, sponsored by local green energy company RES, won the competition challenging teams of students aged 11-16 years to design and build an environmentally friendly model vehicle. The final was held at Toyota's Manufacturing plant in Burnaston, Derbyshire on Saturday, May 16th.

OPENING OF FRENCH WIND FARM TAKES RES TO FOUR GIGAWATTS
RES has now built over 4GW of wind energy capacity worldwide following commissioning of the 50 MW Pays de St Seine wind farm in France, which is being officially opened today (Friday 15 May 2009). The project brings to 4,037MW the total amount of capacity developed and/or constructed by companies within the RES Group since RES’s first project at Carland Cross in Cornwall, England, in 1992.

NORDISK VINDKRAFT’S HÅCKSTA PROJECT INAUGURATED: ELECTRICITY FOR 4,500 HOUSEHOLDS
Håcksta wind farm inauguration took place on Thursday 23 April. The project has five wind turbines developed,built and delivered by Nordisk Vindkraft. Håcksta is the second project completed by Nordisk Vindkraft.  Construction began in June 2007 and it became operational in February this year. Work progressed as planned and Nordisk Vindkraft delivered the farm on schedule to Umeå Energi, its owner.

HAVSNÄS WINS RENEWABLES DEAL OF THE YEAR
Havsnäs wind farm has won the prestigious IJ Infrastructure award for Renewables Deal of the Year announced at the recent Infrastructure Journal Awards dinner.  The project was identified as the pathfinder deal of 2008 due to its innovative approach to financing unseen before in the Nordic electricity market and fought off stiff competition from two other portfolios.
