Applicants are sought for key roles at Inbuilt, an exciting new company delivering sustainable solutions for new and existing residential and commercial developments. This advertisement relates specifically to positions in our rapidly expanding Housing Team.
If the challenge of climate change is to be addressed, improving the sustainability of the built environment will be vital – and Inbuilt will provide intelligent, innovative, integrated solutions to radically transform the way new and existing buildings and communities are planned, designed, constructed, refurbished and managed.
Inbuilt is part of one of the world’s largest renewable energy companies, operating within a long-established and highly respected UK construction group. With substantial financial backing, Inbuilt has exciting and ambitious yet achievable growth plans.
You will assist in the development and deployment of new low- and zero- carbon housing design tools, strategies and services for clients in the public and private sectors. You are likely to be degree qualified, will be aware of UK sustainable housing policy issues, drivers and opportunities, and must be passionate about improving the sustainability of the built environment. Whether highly experienced or a new graduate, you will be articulate and ambitious but will also share our person-centred ethos and a culture of ethical trading.
All candidates must have a good understanding of the SAP (or NHER or BREDEM), ADL1 (especially the TER/DER), and the energy components of the Code for Sustainable Homes. Practical experience in the housebuilding industry, the social housing sector or a housing design/research consultancy will be an advantage. In addition, you must have expertise in one or more of the following fields:
- Low-/zero-carbon housing solutions for newbuild or refurbishment
- Bioclimatic design (incl green roofs and facades)
- Airtightness and ventilation strategies
- Thermal bridging calculations
- Advanced glazing and ‘extreme’ insulation
- Building physics (incl daylighting, shading, thermal mass)
- Residential building performance modelling and analysis
- The PassivHaus standard
Then, depending on your qualifications and experience, you will fit into one of the following positions:

Principal Consultant
You will provide your specific technical expertise to client projects, and will also manage a number of concurrent projects (including the budgets, the timescales and the people involved in the delivery teams). You will have a respected track record and be well-known in the industry. You will be comfortable giving technical and business presentations to clients and other audiences.
Senior Consultant
You will contribute your specific skills to technical projects, and will be asked to manage the budget, timescale and resource plan. You will have responsibility for specific client relationships, and be confident when asked to deliver technical presentations to your clients.

You will be a member of all project teams which require your particular expertise, and will be keen to develop your personal skill set to include project management, client liaison and business development. You may on occasion be asked to manage projects and deliver presentations relating to your work.
