Principal Mechanical Engineer

The Role

The Principal Mechanical Engineer is part of a new engineering team being recruited to expand the RES Heat and Power capability for the delivery of power generation schemes, industrial steam plant and CHP projects, fuelled by biomass. The primary team role is to position RES Heat and Power as an intelligent purchaser of outsourced detail engineering, procurement and construction services.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluate technical and economic options for customer requirements
  • Support sales teams in proposal engineering and customer requirements interpretation.
  • Support feasibility studies, proposal engineering and detailed design engineering.
  • Technical support for project construction, plant installation and plant pre-commissioning and commissioning.

The Candidate

Candidates should have a Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering and due to the nature of the work, preferably be a Chartered Engineer.   Ideally you will have a strong technical knowledge of steam and CHP plant, including combustion systems, pressure vessels, high speed rotating equipment, and the relevant design codes and standards. Candidates must be prepared to travel within the UK and, if necessary, overseas and hold a UK driving license.
