7154 - Director Construction

RES currently has a Director Construction position located in Broomfield, CO.


Provides direction and oversight to active projects that include review of budgeting, contract negotiations, sub-contractors, suppliers and change orders.

Specific duties:

  • Leadership Accountabilities:  Identify, deploy, and manage a high-performing team needed to accomplish business objectives. Provide a positive and engaging work environment by:
    • hiring outstanding talent;
    • aligning individual and team objectives to department and company objectives;
    • managing and supporting employee development and growth;
    • providing regular and direct feedback on performance and goal progress. 
  • Ensures that project is constructed safely and to high quality standard and that they are resourced correctly to complete on time and budget.
  • Ensure projects meet requirements for budgeting.
  • Responsible for 1-3 active projects at any given time.
  • Prepare and submit requests for proposals, in addition to direction and oversight of the pre-construction teams.
  • Generate internal reports and conferences for updates relating to project updates, personnel, budget review and schedules.
  • Coach and mentor Project Managers to improve skill sets.
  • Work with business development to create leads and develop relationships with perspective customers.
  • Improve and document processes and procedures.
  • Understand and review Safety Management Systems, Quality Management Systems and Environment Management Systems.
  • Review internal and external weekly and monthly project reports, generated by Project Managers and site teams.
  • Review budget and cost to complete projections.
  • Develops new relationships with sub-contractors, utilities and clients.
  • Oversees the responses to Requests for Proposals and support the bid process to successfully negotiate new projects.
  • Directs the Project Managers who will be responsible for delivering quality projects on time and on budget.   
  • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action.  Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.     

Job Measures include:

  • Budget and/or profit margins up to 250+MW on utility scale projects.
  • Approval limits for subcontracts and purchase orders on utility scale projects.
  • Approval limits for subcontracts and purchase orders on utility scale projects.
  • Schedule and project completion on time per budget.
  • RFP - proposal acceptance up to 250+MW for utility scale projects

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent (equivalent is 8 years of experience), preferably in a construction related field.
  • Must have 7+ years experience in a similar position with relevant and comparable construction projects. 
  • Must have a valid current driver license, eligible for corporate vehicle insurance coverage.
  • Must have a valid current passport for travel (including air travel) outside the U.S.

Performs primarily sedentary office duties with occasional travel to other Company offices or construction sites.  Incumbent may occasionally lift up to 10 pounds and may be required to sit, stand, walk and use a computer.

Construction site environment includes early stage permitting, development and auditing through finished roads and features.  Extensive travel with driving to remote sites along with office work in field conditions is also included.
