7129 - Development Associate

RES currently has a Development Associate position open in the Minneapolis, MN office


This position is responsible for day-to-day aspects of assisting project development and the development department with a variety of activities to include administrative activities, research and coordination to assist with meeting the goals for wind, solar, transmission and storage projects.   

Specific duties: 

  • Preparation of Landowner information and lease packages
  • Entry of Lease documents and terms into RES’ lease management database
  • Management of payments
  • Documentation of Lease variances
  • Preparation and submittal of Request for Proposal responses
  • Assisting developers with project specific needs
  • Management of internal inputs into client management software
  • Coordination of internal and external meetings
  • Compilation of management reports and budgets
  • Communicating with landowners, government officials, and other project stakeholders
  • Administering project website and social media presences
  • FTP and Datasite management
  • Coordination with Accounts Payable for development related third party payments
  • Preparation of presentation/meeting materials
  • Maintenance of project budget and schedule files
  • Understanding of contract terms and ability to recognize discrepancies
  • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action.  Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly         

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently or with limited oversight
  • Intermediate skills in solving complex problems
  • Highly organized
  • Basic skills in managing client interactions and delivering on time cost effective projects
  • Advanced oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 15%
  • Intermediate skills in Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Intermediate skills in Data Base management
  • Understanding of contract terms and ability to recognize discrepancies
  • Ability to work professionally with clients, landowners vendors, employees, managers and supervisors
  • Stay current with professional and industrial best practices
  • Experience working with rural and agricultural communities  


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Management or other relevant field
  • Work equivalency – minimum 4 years
  • 0-2 years work experience in project development, real estate, land acquisition equivalent industry experience. 

 Physical requirements and environment:

The successful candidate will perform primarily sedentary office duties with travel to other Company offices or development & construction sites.  They may occasionally lift up to 10 pounds and may be required to sit, stand, walk and use a computer. Development site work may occasionally require significant amounts of time outdoors in undeveloped areas, at all times of year, and in all weather conditions. Successful candidates will occasionally be required to walk and/or stand for significant amounts of time over uneven terrain outdoors. 

Air and car travel including driving to remote sites along with office work in field conditions is also included. Driving may require operating vehicles off-road in various conditions on development and/or construction sites. Some sites may require travel in small regional jet or prop airliners and stays at limited service hotels.
