O&M Engineer - Grimsby

Reporting to the Operations Manager of the Offshore O&M department, the primary responsibility of the role is to manage maintenance services to offshore transmission and wind farm assets. By doing so the O&M Engineer shall ensure that these services are delivered safely and in accordance to specified contractual standards and specifications.

Organisational Context:

  • Working closely with other RES departments including Onshore O&M and Onshore Asset Management

  • Regular communication with RES’s clients, external contractors and suppliers.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Taking a lead role in supporting the Offshore O&M department in the execution of contracts on both client and RES managed offshore assets, including but not limited to:
    • Delivering a high standard of HSQE requirements, and ensuring all contractors adhere to these levels at all times
    • Managing the delivery of project work against contract requirements including KPI performance
    • Planning for the delivery of work against the maintenance plan
    • Producing and reviewing maintenance plans, reports, procedures and RAMS
    • Maintaining the asset register & the project database
    • Develop active and effective stakeholder relationships
    • Carrying out minor corrective and preventative maintenance tasks in line with their current and future capabilities  
  • Competency and skills to:
    • Project manage and lead maintenance activities at onshore and offshore sites
    • Manage and oversee sub-contractors and suppliers
    • Collate site and network technical information to facilitate effective decision making within the department
    • React to emergencies, site outages and unplanned events
  • On-Call: The O&M Engineer is expected to participate in a call out rota to provide emergency response outside of normal working hours
  • The role also includes the following department responsibilities:
    • Support the Offshore O&M department in the production and review of procedures, processes and technical literature
    • Support the Offshore O&M department in the management of project spares, equipment, tools and consumables
    • Support as required other projects and departments within RES in line with their current and future capabilities


  • Working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation
  • Knowledge and experience of working under HV Electrical Safety Rules
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems and components
  • Good knowledge of Offshore Wind and the HV transmission systems


  • Ability to work safely at all times
  • Technical aptitude for the analysis of complex equipment
  • Project management
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Capable of working offshore and at height
  • Physically fit, the role will require climbing / transferring to offshore structures
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Experience of Wind energy / Renewables or Power Generation Industry (required)
  • Experience of using Scada systems for the remote monitoring and interrogation of assets (required)
  • Experience of working in multi-discipline teams
  • Experience of managing and delivering site scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities
  • Experience offshore (desirable)


  • A HND in engineering, or equivalent qualification, but proven working background in the Wind energy / Renewables or the Power Generation Industry (required)
  • Safety qualification, IOSH or equivalent (required)
  • GWO Training (desirable, however full training will be given)
  • Hold a full clean driving licence
