Working within the Measurement Services team in support of measurement activities both for RES group companies and external clients, the Inst Tech role will provide support during assembly, testing, deployment and documentation of measurement systems in support of site and workroom based activities. In addition, the Inst Tech will be expected to take an active part in the data management, processing and O&M intervention on operational sites. This could require reasonably extensive travel in the UK and possibly overseas
The Measurement Services Department sits within the Support Services Group within RES offering a range of mast, instrumentation and RSD services throughout the industry. The Instrumentation Technicians report directly the Senior Project Engineers and are part of the project delivery team providing project support across a wide range of services and projects. The main role of the Instrumentation Technicians is to support site and work room based activities for both onshore and offshore projects with internal and external customers. This will include (but is not limited to):
Measurement system construction, testing and pre-installation reportingSystem deployment and commissioningSystem fault finding and repairInstrument or sensor replacement (including working at height on lattice masts and turbine nacelles)Assisting in the installation, commissioning, maintenance and decommissioning of tubular and lattice mastsProvision of H&S documentationData management and processing
Able to work effectively as part of a team or unsupervised during O&M operations, the Inst Tech will be expected to provide support and solutions during all activities carried out by the MS Department.
Workshop Based Support Activities
Construction and testing of measurement systems in accordance with approved MS Department designs and procedures
Provision of support for all workshop activities.
Design Support Activities
Provision of support to the wider team during the design of measurement systems
Pre Installation Support Activities
Preparation of all relevant health and safety documentation required in order to carry out installation of instrumentation equipment. Ensuring all consumables and equipment necessary to install measurement systems on site is available when required Site Based Activities
Provision of instrumentation support during mast installations under guidance of senior technical and engineering staff
Provision of instrumentation support during unplanned intervention activities under guidance of office based engineering staff Provision of instrumentation support during on site fault-finding of measurement systems under guidance of office based engineering staff
Assist in the completion of installation documentation in accordance with MS Department approved procedures
Post Installation Responsibilities
Completion of ‘As Built’ Documentation Entry of installation details into database Weekly data management/processing for operational sites
Knowledge of all aspects of automated measurement systems including but not limited to:
Data Acquisition Systems
Remote Communications Systems
Able to work effectively as part of a team
Able to work effectively unsupervised
Experience in relation to the construction, testing, operation and maintenance of measurement systems
Able to interpret electrical drawings and the ability to build and test electronic or electrical equipment directly from drawings
Well organized and have the ability to support in the delivery of multiple projects
Personable, with good communication skills.
Computer literate, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Experience working within National and International QA standards
Experienced working with H&S documentation and management systems
Relevant experience working as a technician in a technical environment, ideally in an instrumentation, measurement or electronic industry.
Working at height
HNC in an engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience
Full UK driving licence
